Sport Clubs
The Sports field and Pavillion are located at the end of Mowbray Avenue. Currently there is only the Bowling Club that use these facilities. In past years there was a football team and a cricket team but unfortunatley both ceased to exist due to a decline in members. If anyone is interested in using this great facility for any sports please contact the Parish Clerk.
The Sports Pavillion is available for hire for children’s parties etc. Please contact the Parish Clerk for further details at: parish.council@dishforthvillagehall.co.uk.
Dishforth Bowling Club – the season runs from April to September and the club plays in 4 different leagues. Two of the leagues are played during in the afternoons and two are played in the evening. If you don’t feel ready to play in a league then we have social members who play on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings. If you are interested in joining then come along and have a go. All you need are flat soled shoes, other equipment and helpful advice are free! If you wan’t further information please contact Glenys Midgley on 01845 577695
The club is also looking for volunteers to help with the Green and other general maintenance work. If you don’t want to bowl but have time on your hands and wish to volunteer to help out please contact Glenys
Dishforth Carpet Bowls Club – the season runs from September to March. The normal club night is on a Wednesday evening, however, the club plays against other village teams in the local area on various evenings. The club play in the Village Hall, starting at 19:00. They currently have 1 team (of 4 players) in the league but new members are needed to keep the club going. No equipment is required, just flat shoes.
